Youth Learn-to-Row Summer Camps

For those with little to no rowing experience! We teach the basics of rowing in a one, two, or four person boat. Campers will gain the knowledge on how to row in a boat comfortably and confidently with their peers. We want to spread the awareness of rowing and use it to teach independence, critical thinking, body awareness, and overall strength and fitness.

Each day will begin with a land session focusing on the technique of the stroke. We will then spend 1.5-2 hours on the water working on technique and fitness. The day ends with time off the water doing a fun activity such as frisbee golf, volleyball, or other sporting activities.

Campers can sign up for multiple weeks to continue improving their knowledge of the sport. The experience learned will prepare campers to join our juniors racing team in the Fall!

Camp Descriptions

LEVEL I - Introduction to rowing. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of the sport on and off the water. We will cover technique, parts of the boat, boat handling and safety. On the water, athletes learn how to balance and steer a boat while also propelling the boat through the water. The goal is for athletes to build fitness and learn how to work together.
*No experience necessary*

LEVEL II - Building off of the rowing basics, athletes will fine-tune their technique, build endurance through longer pieces on the water and learn to row in a single person boat. We finish off the week learning how to race.
*Must have taken the level 1 class or have at least one month of rowing experience*
