Skills for Rowing = Skills for Life
Rowing is one of those rare sports where athletes can compete individually or in a variety of boats—for SBCR that would be a double, with two rowers, or a quad, with four rowers, and sometimes a coxswain who steers and help motivate the boat.
Junior rowers learn how to motivate themselves, how to navigate relationships with others, how to become part of a team so that the whole boat moves faster. From getting the boat down to the dock to the attention, motivation, and resilience necessary to row translates directly to all parts of life.
While many Juniors may dream of going to Nationals (and one of our team members did just that—read about her here), simply participating in the sport nurtures awareness of self and of the human and natural environment, from cultivating rowing skills to gelling as a team, from learning about waves and weather to navigating the lake.
These rowing skills prep junior rowers for life.
